| This evening seventeen members from the Company attended "Safety and Rules of Firefighting Strategy" held at Station 66. The class focused on Safety as the number one priority on any fireground. Safety cannot be maintained without an effective fireground command system. This course reviewed the fundamentals of the Incident Management System and the personnel that must be employed to effectively supervise an emergency scene. The basis for establishing and maintaining command was also discussed.
This class was the kick off for more classes in a series that will be held over the next two months and then picking back up in the fall. Thank you to Instructor Dave Karlunas for leading the lecture/discussion through the evening.
The next class will be "Emergency Scene Size-up" held at Station 66 on Thursday May, 20, 2010. Then "Engine Co. Ops." will be held on Thursday June 17, 2010 before taking a break for the summer. Any Mutual-Aid Company wanting to send members to the next classes, please contact 66-9B (J. Heacock). |
