| Thursday evening October 6th at 1900hrs the company participated in our monthly three company drill with Concordville (59) and Chester Heights (71). October's drill again focused on vehicle rescue training. Concord Towing Service again allowed us the use of their facilities.
This month's drill was more scenario driven. Units staged on Christy Drive across from Concord Towing Service. The drill scenario started with Concordville being "dispatched" for a reported accident involving a school bus. Medic 59-7A arrived advising they had a five vehicle accident with 2 subjects trapped. 59-4 Command (Firefighter Amanda Harley) requested two additional rescues (Rescue 66 and Rescue 71) be added to the assignment. 59-4's crew worked to extricate the driver of the vehicle that was partially under a school bus and van. Rescue 66 arrived and was assigned to a vehicle on a jersey barrier with one subject trapped. Rescue 71's crew was assigned to assist Rescue 66 and 59-4.
Rescue 66's crew went to work under the command of Captain Dan Kirkner (66-12A).
Rescue 66's crew sized up the scene confirming only one patient and began to stabilize the vehicle utilizing the Junkyard Dog stabilizers and cribbing. A 1 ¾ hose line was deployed while the rescue tools (cutters and spreaders) were setup. The scenario was timed and crews had their victims extricated within 40 minutes. Once the scenario was completed a critique was held reviewing the training incident.
Thank you again to Concord Towing (Steve Quigley Sr. and Steve Quigley Jr.) for the second month in a row allowing us to utilize their lot and providing assistance in setting up the vehicles for the drill.
