| Thursday evening January 20th at 1930hrs 15 members attended an EMS review drill to go over Medic 66-7. Medic 66-7 is an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Unit operated and staffed by the Crozer Keystone Health System. The unit is stationed at the Bethel Township building located on Bethel Road and is the primary emergency medical services unit for Bethel Township. Medic 66-7 is not the only emergency medical services provider you may see in Bethel Township. In addition to Medic 66-7 other emergency medical services providers you may see in Bethel Township include Concordville (59), Boothwyn (40), Talleyville (NCC 25), Claymont (NCC 13) and Aston-Beechwood (72).
The Bethel Township Hose Co. No.1 responds on designated emergency medical services calls with Medic 66-7. Some of these calls include cardiac arrests, unconscious subjects and pedestrians struck. Once on scene members will assist Paramedics with equipment, lifting and any other task within their scope of certification (First Aid/CPR, First Responder, EMT-B, etc.).
This evening Paramedics Phil Murphy and Fred La Luz spent a couple hours covering a variety of topics. Some of the topics covered included equipment locations, stretchers (Reeves and Stryker), CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), stair chair operation, backboards and the KED (Kendrick Extrication Device). The drill was a great opportunity for members to learn and review the location of the equipment. Thank you to Paramedics Murphy and La Luz for taking the time to review the equipment with the membership. |
