Member Completes New Castle County Fire Recruit Class

Congratulations to Anthony LaSalvia on completing the New Castle County Fire Recruit Class #7. The course was designed to provide students with the necessary training and skills to successfully meet the requirements of NFPA 1001 standard for a Firefighter I & II and NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations.

The course, which started February 2nd, was held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm to 10pm and every other Saturday and Sunday from 8pm to 5pm. Training topics included fire service orientation, hose handling, hazardous materials, water rescue, ladders, tools, salvage, overhaul, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), personal protective equipment (PPE), basic EMS and firefighter safety. There were two weekends of practical testing and a written examination. A graduation ceremony was held Thursday evening May 27th at Delaware State Fire School’s New Castle location. During the ceremony, Anthony was awarded the class academic achievement award. A few members attended the ceremony in support of Anthony. Congratulations to all of those who successfully completed the class.
