Just before 4am this morning the company was dispatched as part of a mutual aid assignment to assist Talleyville (NCC 25) with a house fire located on the 400 block of Derby Way in the Brandywine Hunt Community.

Engine 66 staffed with the overnight volunteer crew of 4 made the response followed by Squad 66 with an additional 4-man crew.

New Castle County Police arrived and advised they had a house fully involved. Engine 66 arrived as the first due engine and initiated a split lay dropping 650 feet of 5 inch supply hose from the corner of Derby Way and Bridle Drive and pulled past the residence leaving the front of the building open for Ladder 25. Engine 66’s crew deployed a 300 foot 2 ½-blitz line with 200 foot of 1 ¾ line and 400 foot of 3-inch line also utilized off Engine 66 for fire suppression.

Squad 66 arrived as the third due engine, reverse laid 1100 feet of 5 inch supply hose from Engine 25-5 to a hydrant on the 500 block of Bridle Drive and supplied Engine 25-5. Engine 25-5 positioned in a neighboring driveway that allowed easy access to the rear of the fire building. Squad 66’s crew assisted 25-5’s crew with placing two 2-inch lines in service.

Engine and Squad 66 were committed for over 6 hours assisting with extinguishment and extensive overhaul. A special thank you to Parkside Fire Co.(45) for covering the Bethel local while our units were committed on scene and for their assistance in restoring our apparatus when our units returned to the station.
