Congratulations to our members Adam Mills, Scott Myers, Josh Schumacher & Jeff Thomas on completing the New Castle County Fire Recruit Class #6. The course was designed to provide students with the necessary training and skills to successfully meet the requirements of NFPA 1001 standard for a Firefighter I & II.

The course, which started February 4th, was held on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6pm to 10pm and every other Saturday and Sunday from 8pm to 5pm. Training topics included fire service orientation, hose handling, hazardous materials awareness, ladders, tools, salvage, overhaul, SCBA, hazmat operations, PPE, basic EMS and firefighter safety. There were two weekends of practical testing and a written examination. Attendees faced course interruption, changes and rescheduling due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Congratulations to all of those who successfully completed the class.
