New Engine 66

The Bethel Township Hose Co. No.1 has signed an agreement with Glick Fire Equipment Company Inc. to purchase a new Pierce Enforcer engine to replace our current 2000 Pierce Saber engine. This purchase continues our schedule of replacing apparatus every 20 years. We are expecting to take delivery in early summer 2021. Below are a few items that will be included on the new Engine 66:

Pierce Enforcer 6 man cab
Cummins 450 Horse Power
Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS)
1750 GPM Pump
750 Water Tank
25 Gallon Foam Tank
All LED Scene Lighting (12V)
Frontal and Rollover Protection
Deck Gun Mounted for Operator Access
Front Bumper Intake

No Caption Bunkroom Construction

The past couple weeks a few members have been hard at work converting a corner section of our building into a bunkroom. The bunkroom will serve as a sleeping quarters when our volunteers are available to staff an overnight duty crew. Thank you to all of the members who have chipped in helping to build the room. Thursday Evening Training

Last evening 12 members attended a SCBA confidence drill. Attending members went thru a maze setup in the engine room with their SCBA masks blacked out to create zero visibility. The drill reviewed familiarization with SCBA, air management, team communication and situational awareness (ex. finding another way when the hoseline leads to a collapsed area). Members drilled for 2 hours before cleaning up. Great job by all who participated and helped with the setup and clean up.... (Full Story & Photos)

No Caption Bethel's Volunteers Keep Busy During Severe Weather

Last evening as a severe thunderstorm hit the area the company responded to 7 calls. 3 were mutual aid water rescue assist calls to Concordville (59), 1 mutual aid vehicle fire assist to Talleyville (NCC 25), 2 water rescue calls in Bethel Township and 1 carbon monoxide alarm call in Bethel Township. Bethel’s volunteers were in service for over 4 hours before returning to station to restore equipment. Earlier in the day, the company also assisted Concordville (59) on a working garage fire.... Engine & Squad Assist Concordville (59)

2:30am this morning the company was dispatched as part of a mutual aid assignment to assist Concordville Fire Co. (59) with a building fire located in the 500 block of Smithbridge Road in Concord Township.

Engine and Squad 66 both made the response. Engine 59 arrived as the first due engine with a fully involved garage. Engine 71 (Chester Heights) arrived as the second due engine and completed Engine 59’s water supply.

Engine 66 arrived as the third due engine and established a secondary water supply dropping 250 feet of 5 inch supply line from the hydrant at Smithbridge Road and Bethel Road.

Bethel’s volunteers worked on scene for approximately 2 ½ hours. Thank you to Parkside Fire Co. (45) ... (Full Story & Photos)
