Sunday afternoon December 10th around 5:15pm the company was dispatched to assist Claymont (NCC 13) with a natural gas leak inside the Safeway Supermarket located on Foulk Road. The assignment was reduced to NCC units. The company returned to the station and was then dispatched to assist Concordville (59) with a house fire located on Woodchuck Way in Concord Township. Engine 66-1 and Engine 66-3 with 12 total members made the response. Bethel units were available within 30 minutes.

Once available the company readied Santa Claus for his first of four evening visits to the residents of Bethel Township. Early in Santa’s visit around 7:15pm the company was dispatched to Conchester Highway between Foulk Road and Colonial Drive for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. All Bethel apparatus with 20 members made the response. While responding units received reports of 2 vehicles head on with entrapment in both vehicles. Chief 66 (M.Heacock) requested Rescue 40 (Boothwyn) be added to the assignment along with additional ambulances. Upon arrival units encountered a two vehicle head on accident with heavy entrapment in both vehicles (4 patients in 1 vehicle and 1 patient in the other vehicle). Crews worked together for 30 minutes to extricate all patients. Pennstar 1 was also utilized as a medical transport unit. Crews remained on the scene until approximately 11pm providing lighting for the investigation. Thank you to all of the assisting Fire, Police, EMS and Fire Police units.
