Congratulations Chief Heacock SEPTEMBER 29 - October is fire prevention month. Each year around fire prevention time, Choice Marketing Inc. selects a Fire Chief of the month for October. This year Choice Marketing Inc. named Chief Heacock Fire Chief of the month for October. Congrats Chief!! Fire prevention week this year starts on October 5th. Bethel Township Community Day SEPTEMBER 21 - Sunday September 21st from 1300hrs to 1800hrs the annual Bethel Township community day was held on the grounds of the Bethel Springs Elementary School. Members conducted a vehicle rescue demonstration and all of our equipment was on display for the community to check out. In addition the membership sold hot dogs and pretzels. Numerous organizations had display tables including the Bethel Township Police Department, Crozer EMS, Bethel Township Park and Recreation, Sun East Federal Credit Union, Boy Scout Troop #191 and Alex's Lemonade stand. Accident with Car Overturned on Foulk Road SEPTEMBER 16 - Friday night September 12th at 2131hrs the company and Crozer EMS unit Medic 66-7 were dispatched to 2047 Foulk Road for an accident. Assistant Chief Craig E. Small (66-9A) arrived and advised one vehicle was overturned, with no entrapment and two minor injuries. House Fire on South Garnet Mine Road AUGUST 28 - Thursday morning August 28th at approximately 0820hrs the company and Medic 66-7 (Crozer EMS) along with the Ogden (55), Boothwyn (40) and Green Ridge (63) fire companies were dispatched to 1622 South Garnet Mine Road for a building fire reported to be in the basement. Assistant Chief John Heacock (66-9B) arrived and reported he had smoke evident. Boothwyn Engine 40-1 arrived, positioned in the driveway and under the direction of their Deputy Chief Ray Fuller Jr. (40-9A) quickly placed a 1 ¾ hand line in service knocking down the fire and containing the fire to the basement. Bethel Township Annual Corn Boil AUGUST 10 - Sunday August 10th the Bethel Township annual corn boil was held on the grounds of the Bethel Springs Elementary School. The corn boil is an annual event free to township residents and is organized by the township recreation committee and board of supervisors. Residents enjoy corn on the cob, hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks and games. Residents typically bring desserts. Some of the games include tug of war, sack races and pie eating contests. A moon bounce is provided for young children. Fire company Vice President Bob Bardsley provided use of his DJ equipment and Century 21 The Real Estate State owner Chris Panarello supplied free water ice.
